Books

  • Course materials ordering process for Faculty: the deadline for ordering for the Summer term is March 1st. You can order now using this form - you can either fax it to us or scan it. We will have the new online ordering system running soon: Vancouver and the Okanagan, a user-friendly, efficient program that no longer requires you to remember login IDs or passwords.
  • All information about Copyright at UBC is here. Please check the new processes as we all have to be careful with the materials that we're copying now. Rest assured, we have the new process covered.

Textbooks

We offer a wide range of textbooks (course materials) at all locations: Vancouver, Okanagan and Robson Square.

  • Buyback: NOW CLOSED until March 1, 2012. We buy back your books throughout the year (except for two blackout periods - mid September to October and mid to end January).   Buyback FAQ.

  • Books for January 2012. This is your last chance to buy your textbooks as we have to start to return them to the publishers now (the textbook area will be closed off in the Vancouver store from February 2nd, however, the textbook team can still help you find books). For the Vancouver campus only, you can still buy your textbooks online or in-store. Using your student ID, you can see your personalised book list OR you can pick manually from a list. Choices for you: rental, used and new.

  • In the Okanagan, you purchase your books in-store only as usual. The Okanagan textbooks guide, as well as the Okanagan rental list for January 2012.

Google eBooks available online now!

The UBC Bookstore now sells 250,000 + ebooks online. This is the result of a partnership between Campus E-Bookstore and Google eBooks to distribute public domain and commercial ebooks across Canada. Pricing is very competitive with other leading retailers.  Watch the video here!

Google eBooks is a new form of cloud-based e or digital book that allows readers to access their libraries on almost any device, including smart phones and tablet devices such as iPads, from one single repository, regardless of where the books were purchased.

General (non-course) books

  •  Our large and globally diverse selection of non-course books includes latest best sellers and books you cannot find anywhere else in the Lower Mainland, along with a book club to provide you with additional discounts. We sell a wide range of books for children and young readers as well.
  • Medical books (online selection): offered through our partnership with Login.
  • Faculty, we would welcome your input on the books we carry in-store. Please contact us and we will send you a current list for your department. You can then let us know which titles are relevant and which new titles you would like to see.
  • We sell a wide range of books for children and young readers as well. If you're looking for a book we do not stock, we can order most books that are in distribution in North America with our special order service.
  • Authors: If you're a Faculty author, or looking for one, we stock them here, as well as hosting author events on and beyond campus, please contact us with any questions.
  • We also run the Robson Reading Series, free author events at our Robson Square location.
