UBC - Canada's first Fair Trade campus

Free coffee, fairs, flash mob, movies and more....

UBC celebrated its first Fair Trade week from March 5 - 9. UBC is Canada's first Fair Trade campus. The week was intended to educate us all as to what Fair Trade is and what products are available across campus.

Sustain, Food Services, the UBC Bookstores, the AMS,  Engineers Without Borders, the faculty of Land and Food Systems and UBC Common Energy provided a variety of educational tools and opportunities to sample Fair Trade products throughout the Fair Trade week (more details available on the Food Services website).

Do you know what Fair Trade is? Fair Trade is a different way of doing business. It's about making principles of fairness and decency mean something in the marketplace. It guarantees the farmer or producer a fair price for their goods so they can live a decent life.

Do you know where Fair Trade is currently available on campus? Through Food Services and the UBC Bookstores.

Do you know what Fair Trade products are available? Coffee, tea, clothing, giftware and accessories. Did you know UBC Bookstore's clothing is 'No Sweat'?
