During September's back-to-school, 3,500 students rented their textbooks!

You can now rent your textbooks and return them at the end of the term with savings of 55% per book. If a new book is $100, to rent it will be $45. We are aiming to rent most books over $50 (exceptions apply such as ebooks or custom course). You can rent in-store in Vancouver (Vancouver rental textbook list by title here and by course) and the Okanagan (Okanagan textbook rental list), rent textbooks online in Vancouver, and 3000 + titles online via our affiliate in Vancouver rental and the Okanagan rental (please note they have their own terms and conditions).

If you choose to rent your books for the January 2012 term, you will have to return them to the Bookstore by 30 April, 2012 (or you can choose to buy them). If you rented books this September 2011 term, your deadline to return has passed and we will have to charge you for your books (if you return on time in future, this means that other students will have access to them to study in time).

Why not try rental, you can:

• Rent NEW and USED* books
• Highlight and make notes (as long as it's in usable condition for another student when you return it to us)
• Buy it at the end of the term if you want to  - you just pay the difference!
• Rent ONLINE and IN-STORE
• Return it right after your exams

* Discount is taken off price of a new book.

Distance Education students return procedure:

If you rented from the Bookstore online (bookstore.ubc.ca) and NOT from our affiliate sites (ubcbookstore.rentsbooks.com and for the Okanagan at ubcobookstore.rentsbooks.com), please return your books by mail and mark your package:  "Attention: Michael Guimond, textbook rental returns", and including your name, address, email address, phone number, student number, and if possible, the original receipt. If you want to avoid shipping charges you or a friend/relative can drop them into the Bookstore (at one of our four locations). If you rented from our affiliate, they have their own return and shipping policies.For those returning rentals by mail, please ensure that your shipment can be tracked via a tracking number. The Bookstore is not responsible for rental book returns which do not reach the Bookstore.
