Students' iclicker

iclickerUBC (Vancouver campus) introduced the classroom responder 'iclicker' system in 2008. The iclicker is available for sale at the UBC Bookstore at the cash desks.

What is the iclicker used for?

You use it to respond to questions posed by your instructor. Simple instructions on its use are on the back of the clicker and on the packaging. You should bring the iclicker to class unless otherwise instructed.

Why is an iclicker required for my class?

Using the iclicker to respond to the instructor's questions helps generate discussion among classmates, gives the instructor a clear sense of how the class is doing and improves comprehension and learning.

How do I know if I need an iclicker?

It will be listed in our textbook guide along with a list of all  the textbooks needed for each course.

I ordered my books online -- will the iclicker be included in my order?

If your courses require an iclicker it will be included in your order.

How much is it?

The price is $43.20 new or $32.40 used.

Do you buy back the iclicker?

You may need an iclicker for a class in a future semester. You can use the same iclicker over your entire academic career, in any course at UBC (UBC Vancouver Campus). But, yes, you can sell your iclicker back to the Bookstore at the end of the term for 50 per cent of the current retail price.

What happens if it doesn't work?

Bring it back to the UBC Bookstore with your receipt for a replacement.

Can I share my iclicker with my room-mate/friend?

Yes, as long as you are not taking the same class/section. You cannot share an iclicker for the same class/section.
